4 Minecraft Resources for Beginners

A while ago I found out about Minecraft, the sandbox indie game. You probably have heard about it too now, because it’s featured on all kinds of websites and in (game)magazines. Here, I have wrote down some resources that you might find interesting when starting with Minecraft.

1. Expedition Minecraft

Expedition Minecraft is a so called Minecraft Let’s Play serie on YouTube. The author of the show, Sebastian the With, leads you into to world of Minecraft.

The first season starts off with surviving the first night, building a shelter and introducing you into the basics of crafting and mining.

Season two begins with a naval travel into Sebastian’s multiplayer server, where he shows you some amazing Minecraft architecture. After this episode the real seasons start with a new Minecraft world, where Sebastian builds a nice outpost, a skeleton farmer and occasionally dies.

In the third season Sebastian explores a new part of his Minecraft world and builds a new home. From here he builds a portal, takes a peak into the Nether and much more.

2. Minecraft on Reddit

It has all the latest news about Minecraft and it’s community. You can also find inspiration and new ideas from fellow Minecraft players. Even the guys behind Minecraft check it out on a regular basis and post comments.

Since I play Minecraft I almost daily checkout this subreddit.

3. Notch’s tumblr

Markus Persson, also known as Notch, is the man behind Minecraft. On his Tumblr blog — The Word of Notch — he posts about the latest updates on his work. You can also follow @notch on Twitter.

4. Yogscast Minecraft seasons

Simon and Lewis from Yogscast have multiple series on Youtube about Minecraft. These guys are just fun! Together they explore the world of Minecraft in their very own way.

Series they have so far:

• Minecraft — Their first Minecraft adventure
• Survival Island — Simon and Lewis play a custom map where they have to survive on a small island
• Planetoids — Simon and Lewis are exploring a custom map called Planetoids
• Star Trek Enterprise — Exploration of a custom map with a pre build Enterprise
• Escapecraft — Another custom map where Simon and Lewes have to escape from some sort of prison
• Four Towers — A custom map adventure
• Shadow of Israphel — A new Minecraft Adventure!
